Drew Madden: a Leader in the World of Healthcare IT

You might not think that two massive companies Amazon and CVS have that much in common. Amazon is an internet-based store that once only sold books and now sells a wide range of items. CVS primarily sells goods to customers in-person and is notable for having their own pharmacy. However, it appears that Amazon and CVS might soon become closer rivals than anyone previously imagined.

It has been reported that Amazon is wanting to enter the pharmaceutical market. This company has been working hard to obtain pharmaceutical licenses throughout various places in the United States. Amazon has begun to venture out into selling their own products in categories including grocery items, clothing, and health supplements. CVS recently purchased one of the largest health insurance companies in the United States, Aetna. Many believe that this purchase means that CVS is aiming to have more control over the healthcare market than ever before.

While innovations continue to help the world of healthcare move forward, certain people feel there is much more work to be done. Many feel that implementing more technology into the healthcare world would improve this industry’s current landscape. For instance, utilizing technology to track the results of patients after they leave primary care could help reduce mismatches in regard to post-care referrals.
