Colcom Foundation

Colcom Foundation is a philanthropic organization that funds water, environmental, and arts programs.

The Colcom Foundation funds programs to ensure clean drinking water for people in need, preserve the natural environment, and enrich the human experience through the arts. All across our country, we work with individuals and organizations striving to end extreme poverty in America. We invest in proven programs that attack poverty at its roots with life-long solutions like education, income-generating opportunities, and access to capital and healthcare.

Colcom Foundation is committed to protecting all God’s children from exploitation through funding prevention efforts such as our award-winning STOP Program (Stop Trafficking Now). In addition, the Foundation funds programs working to strengthen the family unit (Our Family) and support education from preschool through college and beyond.

The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending poverty in America by funding programs that reduce the root causes of poverty and help families escape poverty. Colcom is a private foundation governed by an independent board of trustees, which works with an Ethics and Compliance Committee to ensure leadership lives up to its highest standards.

The Foundation is a large private foundation, with the bulk of its assets in real estate and securities. In the past three years (2013–2015), the foundation’s average annual giving was $89 million.

Colcom Foundation is one of only twelve hundred foundations nationwide to receive three consecutive 4-star ratings (2013–2015) from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent evaluator of charitable organizations. Charity Navigator awarded a perfect 100% score in financial health, accountability and transparency. The organization also received a “Best in America” distinction for efficiency, effectiveness, and donor satisfaction.

They’ve given away over $700 million to charitable causes since its inception in 1964, including medical research, arts and education programs. In 1993 Colcom announced the creation of a trust that would award an annual prize for fiction. Over the last 22 years, the winner has won $1.3 million. See this page to learn more.
